Shooting Sports

Do you want to learn proper and safe ways to shoot a firearm, or bow and arrow while growing in communication, leadership, and life skills? Check out the Kansas 4-H shooting sports projects! With ten different 4-H Projects to choose from, you will learn the importance of gun safety and best hunting practices, plus have an opportunity to test your skills.

The disciplines are: Archery, Air Pistol, Air Rifle, BB Gun, Hunting Skills - Muzzleloading, Small Bore Pistol, Small Bore Rifle, Shotgun, and Western Heritage. Each discipline needs a certified local instructor in order to be offered to local county youth.

Adult volunteers who are interested in becoming certified in a discipline please contact the Extension office. In order to remain a state approved and legal shooting sports program, 4-H programs rely on certified instructors and require one shooting sports coordinator.

4-H Shotgun Program

As of the 2025-2026 4-H program year, we currently offer shotgun discipline to Doniphan County 4-H youth. We rely on certified volunteers to instruct youth. Youth must be 10 years and older (4-H program age) to participate in state shotgun matches.
